If you are arrested for a misdemeanor charge it means that the penalty available upon a finding of guilt is less than one year of incarceration and a fine. Also available to Courts in these cases is the ability to sentence the individual to probation with conditions of jail time and treatment. Some misdemeanors involve assault, battery, disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, theft, drunk driving, fourth degree sexual assault and many other crimes.

A misdemeanor conviction can result in the loss of freedom that could affect your job. A misdemeanor sounds like it is a minor thing but it is not. Misdemeanor convictions still result in a permanent criminal record. A permanent record may affect your future employment opportunities. Any time the police or government is involved be aware of your constitutional rights.
